Key Functions
- 1.Coordination of international technical assistance
- 2.Coordination of provincial statistics and all matters relating to the Bureau of Statistics
- 3.Coordination and training of officers on overseas assignments
- 4.Economic research and matters relating to the Board of Economic Inquiry
- 5.Evaluation of development schemes and preparation of critical appraisals
- 6.Foreign aid and technical assistance programmes
- 7.Public outreach on the development plan and communicating progress to the public
- 8.Liaison with national planning agencies
- 9.Provincial planning, policy formulation, and development programming
- 10.Processing development schemes and proposals from line departments and recommending them to government
- 11.Administration of the Bureau of Statistics
- 12.Research and Training Wing — capacity building and applied research
- 13.Assessment, planning, coordination, and promotion of science and technology, including study formulation, technology dissemination, and programme implementation with relevant agencies
- 14.Contractual research — funding, contracting, and monitoring in public and private sectors for industry and agriculture
- 15.Establishment of research institutions, laboratories, and R&D organisations
- 16.Promotion of applied research and utilization of research results from domestic and international sources
- 17.Guidance to research institutions in scientific and technological research
- 18.Development and optimal utilization of human resources in science and technology
- 19.Monitoring and evaluation of provincial R&D institutes through peer review and performance audit
- 20.Recognition of research achievements through peer-reviewed prizes and awards
- 21.Establishment of the Provincial Scientific and Industrial Research Advisory Council
- 22.Liaison with the Ministry of Science and Technology and national R&D bodies
- 23.Implementation of national technology policy programmes applicable to Sindh
- 24.Administration of the Sindh Land Bank
- 25.Adoption of modern planning and development techniques to address disaster-related challenges and advance sustainable economic growth
- 26.Serving as an engine of growth for robust economic development across sectors of the economy
- 27.Departmental service matters (except those entrusted to the Services, General Administration and Coordination Department)
- 28.Technical support for province-wide urban and regional planning within short, medium, and long-term frameworks
